Game 71: Pre-Game Notes

6:50 PM — Trenton starters are…

Trenton active roster is…

Reading starters are…

6:25 PM — Dave Caruso and Matt Dalton is your goalie matchup tonight.  Matt Arhontas, as of now, nowhere to be seen…

5:20 PM — Brad Miller’s active tonight, and Dan Charleston has been placed on the 21-Day IR.

Not sure who I’d expect in the nets for Reading — guessing Daren Machesney — and I’d presume Dave Caruso will get the nod for Trenton.

Also, happy 25th birthday to Ryan Ginand.  You may recall him from such films as “Should Have Been Called Up To Albany A Long Time Ago.”

3:45 PM — It’s the last home game of the year, so…let’s keep it light, shall we?

But mike, if they win tonight and tomorrow (ok stop laughing) then surely the tache must stay

  2. tdevils Says:

The original plan to ditch it was after Wednesday’s game, but there was a fun little chat after said game in which i was suggested I keep it for tonight’s game. So I did.

  3. chiarams Says:

    No – Thank you, Mike.

Where else could we call Chris Lamiorello the world’s worst General Manager and know that he actually reads it?

As with years past, the handful of us that post here really do appreciate the effort – thanks for giving us a place to vent.

  4. Titans04 Says:

That has become the offical annual anti-playoff stache’.

  5. Titans04 Says:

Can we please get a Roussel/Stoesz bout tonight as a consolation prize?

  6. Langhorne Devil Says:

Arhontas may be nowhere to be seen, but he could be on the ice, we just can’t see him.

  7. trentondevilsfan Says:

    He’s hiding behind Lerg….

  8. Langhorne Devil Says:

Haha first time I’ve smiled here all season!!

  9. Titans04 Says:

He was spotted walking around the concourse. He’ll have the last laugh having graduated from Princeton it just won’t be on the ice.

  10. trentondevilsfan Says:

    My job’s done here 🙂

  11. Devil Dawg Says:

Love it when kids shout the national anthem and the players laugh….

  12. tdevils Says:

Bringing out the big guns for fan appreciation night…

  13. Devil Dawg Says:

Where on earth has this crowd come from?
Shame they aren’t here the rest of the year…

  14. trentondevilsfan Says:

One Zajac stick coming home with me 🙂

  15. Titans04 Says:

Glad to see sauer is still a pussy.

  16. Langhorne Devil Says:

Good to see officiating same as usual. Germaine head was being used As a punch bag in front of us, and official just ignored it. Nice stick tdf!

  17. trentondevilsfan Says:

Some good hitting tonight. And go Greenville! They lead reading by one for top spot in the conference. They’re playing Gwinnet, their own cellar dweller

The stick goes on the wall next to the gale stick

  18. Titans04 Says:

Can never have enough kindling tdf especially with this weather.

  19. trentondevilsfan Says:

Thanks T04. 40 seconds left? Really? At least Greenville is up 2-0

  20. Titans04 Says:

Nights like this makes me miss the good old days even more.

  21. Titans04 Says:

    Annnnnnnnd Ginand scores again.

  22. trentondevilsfan Says:

Well, that’s a wrap. Hey, at least I got a peep thingy tossed by Scorch. Better luck next year. And of course the stick was cool. And the Flyers lost, that’s always a good thing.

  23. Langhorne Devil Says:

I asked to speak to my “ticket rep” at some point during the night. we asked about an hour before game time) they never showed, obviously not bothered about having ticket holders???

  24. Langhorne Devil Says:

still I am going down to DC for the capitals v sabres game tomorrow. – its apparantlyu fan appreciation night there too.. could be interesting

so this season then. didnt manage to win 3 straight at any point.

  25. trentondevilsfan Says:

Tell Ed you didn’t get any love. Ed’s taken care of us pretty well.

  26. Langhorne Devil Says:

he did last year, but i seriously get the feeling they have given up..

if you are desperate for anyone to be here (which they really are) wouldnt you be going around pressing the flesh of every ST holder you had in these last 2/3 weeks of the season?

Jason (MC) was really good for us the other week when i brought my colleague and his young boy. It just seems that the off the ice people (who i have previously backed) seemed to be suffering the same lack lustre of the on ice product.

  27. Devil Dawg Says:

It’s basically a case of ed looked after us for half a season, he helped us renew for full season, they got our cash and now they aren’t bothered.
That’s the bottom line. Interesting spot by LD as well is that the season ticket prices have now been taken down from
Wouldn’t surprise me if a lot more games are in AC next year. As a possible STH for next season, I would like assurances that the home games I am paying for, will be at home and not some Guido gambling paradise…

  28. Titans04 Says:

No excuse LD for them to not make a point of reaching out to you tonight after you requested them to that’s for sure. I do think they’re gun shy, how could they not be, they’re the punching bag and they have virtually no say or worse yet no way fix much of anything. I did run into Ed tonight and had the same old conversation of how disappointed we were with the on ice product again this year and the indifference by the Devils. None of it surprised him and he agreed they need some help.

I couldn’t do what they do that’s for sure.

  29. Shtikl Says:

Ah, loot. It’s not reason enough to go to a game. But my spy’s kid still has the T-Devils flag he got at the one playoff game he attended hanging on the wall in his room. Trentonian side to the wall, of course. 🙂 He’s asked a few times how the T-Devs are doing, to which the answer is “they’re the Devils, they’ll be golfing in April as usual”.

Was at the Worcester Sharks game Saturday night (they lost to the P-Bruins), was their fan appreciation night too. They threw out tennis balls and frisbees to the fans in the lower bowl, no mention of what the fans got when they took their “prizes” to customer service. Most of the crowd was there to see the P-Bruins, though, so they probably didn’t care what they got. As you’d expect, one of the frisbees ended up on the ice just before a face-off. Pretty underwhelming. Did have a good laugh at the boys next to us, way up in the nosebleed seats behind the pro scouts (great view of the game-winning 5-hole soft goal, IMO!), who were actually standing up and yelling as if they expected something to be tossed up that high.

Then again, the Lowell Devils’ fan appreciation night consisted of raffling off, by seat number, NJ Devils pucks and sticks and even sweaters autographed by New Jersey Devils players. A nice gesture, surely, and more than the Sharks did! But, since it was Low Hell, most of the fans in the seats had no idea who Zach Parise is, so I doubt anybody realized what treasures they got. The real fan appreciation was the end-of-an-era STH bash, anyway.

Sometimes those prizes are good though. I still have the goofy purple Louie-the-Lock-Monster slippers we got at the Lock Monsters’ farewell game. A little scruffy, but they’re sure cozy on a Sunday morning in January. 🙂

  30. Shtikl Says:

Also my spy says the former Lowly Dweebles sales rep, now working for the Sharks, still smiles and shakes hands and chats with all the former Devs fans — even the ones who only occasionally make a game in Worcester. Sad to hear that your rep in Trenton didn’t catch up to you, maybe he just ran out of time, I suppose there were a LOT of unhappy people who needed to vent.
