Game 64: Pre-Game Notes

6:45 PM — Myles Stoesz on D.  Should be an interesting experiment…Nolet playing.

6:35 PM — Mike Potacco’s been released…Marco Cousineau starts for Elmira

6:00 PM — Here’s the full release on Berenguer.  Also, Ben Farrer and Matt Germain are expected to debut tonight.

(PR) Trenton, NJ – The Trenton Devils today signed defenseman Chris Berenguer. The announcement was made by Albany and Trenton General Manager Chris Lamoriello.

Berenguer, 25, comes to the Devils from Hamline University (MIAC) where posted 32 points (13g, 19a) this year, most among conference defenseman, and was named MIAC Player-of-the-Year. He led the MIAC with five game-winning goals, including an overtime power-play score March 9 to lift Hamline to its first NCAA postseason victory. Hamline’s first two-time First Team All-American captained the club for three seasons and received All-Conference accolades in all four years, including the MIAC’s All-Rookie Team in 2007-08 with 16 points in 16 games. His strongest season was 2008-09 when he recorded career highs of 14 goals, 25 assists and 39 points. A native of Eden Prairie, MN, Berenguer was named All-Conference and All-State while playing at Eden Prairie High School, and was named a USHL All-Star during the 2005-2006 season as a member of the Sioux Fall Stampede. The 6-2, 205-lb. right-handed shooter was born December 6, 1985.

5:55 PM — If you want any info on the UFC stuff or wish to be regaled by tales of interviewing Dana White, check me out on Twitter at mashmore98.  Light Heavyweight Championship belt is pretty sweet in person, though…

4:50 PM — This is the “on the train from the city to Trenton” version of the pre-game notes…

D Andy Thomas has been called up to Albany, and D Chris Berenguer has been signed out of college…Hamline, to be precise. He’ll wear #6…just not tonight, as he isn’t expected to play.

I’ll have a little more once I actually get to the arena…but with doing the UFC press conference in the city earlier today, it’s been a little hectic to say the least.

Cool, more new blood! Shame he couldn’t play tonite. After some decent crowds its an agoraphibics dream again tonite, typical for a Wednesday…

  2. Langhorne Devil Says:

Myles looked ok covering in d on Sunday so may not be a bad idea.

  3. Titans04 Says:

Pretty sure he played D for a while back in Gwinette when he first entered the league.

No would be the answer to your first question.

  4. Langhorne Devil Says:

Just seen who the referee is. We’re screwed.

  5. Titans04 Says:

    Hayes sitting makes total sense.

  6. trentondevilsfan Says:

Question of the night, will Scorch get his hat stolen?

  7. Titans04 Says:

    Kell helped to the lockerroom

  8. Langhorne Devil Says:

After listening to on the boards last night, I have no idea why Hayes is out. Today’s new kidsdont look out of place.

  9. chiarams Says:

Give them some time to learn the Devils system – they’ll look out of place in no time.

  10. Trentonpwnedflorida Says:

Kell and now Farrer hurt …. Damnit

  11. Langhorne Devil Says:

Not a terrible first. Should be 2-1 devs as ginand missed an open one. He seems out of sorts tonight without his pal.

  12. trentondevilsfan Says:

Nice pass to Southorn standing right in front of our net. Brilliant!

  13. Titans04 Says:

Jackoffs goal was kinda weak no? Thought we played pretty good otherwise.

  14. Titans04 Says:

Thomas goal has Albany up 1-0.

  15. Trentonpwnedflorida Says:

04, ur right the goal was weak :/ Eh oh well. I’m liking the new guys. Really liked Farrer before he got hurt.

  16. Langhorne Devil Says:

Yeah v weak from here, looked like he can’t of seen it clearly.

  17. trentondevilsfan Says:

    Definitely a weak goal…

  18. Langhorne Devil Says:

My gawd we all agree… 🙂

  19. Titans04 Says:

From here it looked like he went down way early, it hit him up near the shoulder and bounced over and in. If he’s standing that doesn’t happen. Oh well new guys look like they fit in.

  20. trentondevilsfan Says:

Gotta say Lerg’s warm-up is the most entertaining I’ve ever seen…

  21. Langhorne Devil Says:

He looks like a puppy playing in the snow

  22. Langhorne Devil Says:

Lerg didnt stand a chance with the second.

  23. Titans04 Says:

throwing away the 5-3 could come back to bite them.

Lerg got a piece of the second one with his right pad just not quite enough.

  24. trentondevilsfan Says:

Yeah that was a bullet. Entertaining game as long as we’re not on the power play…

  25. Titans04 Says:

Not sure if 26 is working with us or against us on the pp.

  26. Langhorne Devil Says:

Wife was talking to 18. Not happy!

  27. trentondevilsfan Says:

Not sure if he’s working, period…..

  28. Langhorne Devil Says:

When you compare godlewski to the trash we have seen on d this year its astonishing.

  29. Devil Dawg Says:

How to make a player uncomfortable :
Me : wow, thought you’d be playing tonight
Ryan Hayes : yeah, so did I ….

Not one of my best chats with a Trenton player I have to admit…

  30. trentondevilsfan Says:

Oops. So headed for another shootout?

  31. Langhorne Devil Says:

And where is our shoot out king, in a luxury box

  32. trentondevilsfan Says:

    Who’s down?

  33. Titans04 Says:

Good night that guy’s in trouble. Hope health ok.

  34. trentondevilsfan Says:

You know its bad when the music shuts off

  35. Titans04 Says:

No what waiting for the tool that for the misconduct

  36. chiarams Says:

My math says they’re 1 point from being mathematically eliminated, with the number of games left between Gwt/Cin/Elm/Tol.

    What was the big delay?

  37. Titans04 Says:

Southern knocked somebody out with a really tough clean hit, the guy was crossing the blueline kinda of balance leaning forward and he buried him. Guy was down for what seemed like forever not moving at all for the first mins or more then moved his legs but barely and then went still for the most part. Not sure but it looked like he may have moved his hands some but again very little. No idea why but they took their sweet old time getting the Dr to the ice, he was more than ready. End up on a stretcher without even taking his helmet off.

Can only imagine the smile on Hayes face seeing how this one played out, good for you Ryan sorry to see you get screwed once again.
