May have something to do with Nagy? Net they lose a forward in Albany.
Devils acquire Leach, trade away Swift, DavisFebruary 9, 2011 at 9:44 pm by Pete Dougherty, Staff writer
Former Altamont resident Jay Leach has been traded to the New Jersey Devils organization as part of a four-player trade with the San Jose Sharks that has sent to Albany players packing.
Leach, a defenseman, and center Steve Zalewski will head to New Jersey for right wing Patrick Davis and center Michael Swift, both of whom had been playing for the Albany Devils.
Leach, 31, has one goal and four assists for five points and 45 penalty minutes in 50 games with Worcester (AHL) this season. He rejoins an organization he played for in 2008-09 and 2009-10.
Leach has one goal and two assists for three points and 53 penalty minutes in 63 career NHL games with Boston, Tampa Bay, New Jersey, Montreal, and San Jose.
Zalewski, 24, was sixth on Worcester in scoring with four goals and 17 assists in 50 games this season. A Utica native, he played three games for San Jose last season.
Davis, 24, had three goals and 10 assists in 40 games for Albany this season. He earlier set the Devils’ AHL franchise record for points. He was in his fifth year in the Devils’ organization, having played nine NHL games for New Jersey.
Wow. Somebody made moves to shore up the minor league teams. Stunning. I guess Worcester’s going to be worth watching now, it will be good to see Davis and Swifty! But how is this going to benefit the NJ Dweebles?… ’cause I thought that was the only reason LL ever did anything… But it doesn’t look like this is going to change the T-Devils’ situation much, still no backup for Connelly. Hey, titans04, remind me how far away Frazee is from returning?
According to TG Frazee was skating in Newark last week and this week, there was no ice available according to his post. Not sure that makes sense. LL the fountain of misinformation when it comes to injuries said he would rehab one week and skate the next then return so my answer is who knows.
Davis and Swift should have never got off the bus in AC don’t forget Davis was “on recall” according to Rick during the NHL Allstar break when asked why he was nowhere to be found in Albany. So my guess is he’s had enough of the BS already and asked to be moved.
Always figured Diddy had a lot more to give but the Devils just killed his enthusiasm. We’ll see how he does in Wistah then. Swifty… I don’t remember that he had much of a defensive side but in previous years he was scoring. Best of luck to ya, boys, it’s a new day!
