Game 46: In-Game Updates

Third Period: Wow…first shutout for the T-Devils since 3/27/10 when Dave Caruso blanked the Jackals.  Tons of post-game coming up.

Second Period: For starters, a lot more people are going to know about those K-Wings jerseys…you’re welcome, America.

Moving on from that…things seemed to have picked up here in the second stanza.  Nice goal on some hard work as a team…Ginand Berube stuffed it in just before the net went off its pegs behind Wings goalie Ryan Nie.  Not sure if the ice is worse than usual or what, but a lot of guys have ended up on their rear ends tonight.  1-0, Trenton, through 40.

First Period: Well, not exactly a whole lot to tell you there…I watched the whole first period from the stands, and it’s flat out depressing on a night like this, where there’s maybe 500 people in the seats.  Zero atmosphere whatsoever, not a lot of jump in either side on the ice, and we’ve got a 0-0 game through the first 20 minutes.

Starters: Connelly; Nolet-Leaderer, Kell-Zancanaro-Akeson

A good solid period of hockey. Would be ahead if akeson could hit a virtually empty net from 12 feet. Kzoo are visibly frustrated and only really had pressure during their pp. 12-6 to devs in shots and that flatters kzoo.

  2. Titans04 Says:

Tons of minor dents in the end boards that period for sure.

  3. Langhorne Devil Says:

Well I thought they looked ok, if no one else did 🙂 . But then I think akeson is crap and I’m in a minority there too.

  4. Titans04 Says:

Nah he’s come up empty in my book too. Wanted to give him every benefit of the doubt but it is what it is. Working hard and being productive are two different things.

  5. Langhorne Devil Says:

Thanks t04 makes me feel a little better. I do feel we look good driving into offensive zone, rather than dumping it in ( I know I’m sounding like a broken record). Come on let’s get a win that our recent performances deserve.

Mike – I count about 260 in that picture. Of course there are probably thousands in the corners that aren’t in the picture.

Hey, life in the second! I thought the first had some good moments but the second has been garbage until we scored, got some jump now.

  8. Langhorne Devil Says:

As tdf says first 10+ mins of 2nd were garbage but livelier since. Early on it looked like we were trying to kill our own pp’s. Amazing we didntbget an early whistle on the goal – thats a first.

Now the unbelievable news – for all the abuse we have given the goalies of late. The sieve has kept us in this game with 4-5 excellent saves.

Interesting nondescript call on lloyds mugging of miller near th end. Oh, and akeson is still stinking it up. 🙂

  9. Titans04 Says:

Anybody mind if we running time from here on out this season?

Connelly made a great save about 45 seconds after we scored otherwise I would have bet the ranch we would have been done.

To his credit I think he’s played well even bailing out Vichorek on the breakaway.

Guys in front of me are wondering what Taylor’s primary sport is. Ouch.

  10. trentondevilsfan Says:

Great save by Connelly at the end of the period. Anyone up for a petition to keep Lerg in the A?

  11. Titans04 Says:

First he stapled Miller to the boards then proceeded to violate him in the crease. Might need a rape kit after that shift.

  12. Langhorne Devil Says:

What was worse was the official was about 2 feet away and watching all the time. I’m all for letting it flow but that was a bit much.

  13. Shtikl Says:

Watching the Ruins-Habs, nice little goalie fight between Carey Price and Tim Thomas. Just over half done and the Ruins lead 5-3 but the game is *far* from over. Exciting hockey, for sure. But it sounds as if youse have something good to watch, too. What a nice change! Go, T-Devils!

  14. tdevils Says:

Meh…no real punches thrown, kind of a wrestling match more than anything.

  15. Shtikl Says:

True, Thomas wanted to make something of it and Price had the advantage in reach. But the announcers are talking about “the popcorn machine” and it’s 6-4 now. The crowd is really into the game, even though he’s gone for the night they’re calling “Ca-rey, Ca-rey”. One wonders how the T-Devils would do if they had a crowd that gave them the kind of energy the big league teams get. Maybe it would be more fun to play and they’d win more often.

  16. chiarams Says:

    Atta boy T-Devs.

All it takes to win is Connolly standing on his head and pitching a shutout.

Here’s hoping this is the start of something…anything…

  17. Shtikl Says:

    CONGRATULATIONS! Way to go, T-Devils!

  18. trentondevilsfan Says:

Nice job closing this one out! Now off to check out this goalie fight…

  19. Langhorne Devil Says:

Seriously well done Shane. Another 20+ like that and who knows… If only we had got those other 4pts from reading this weekend – it would not be looking too bad.
