Game 19: Pre-Game Notes

6:40 PM — It’s Shane Connelly vs. Ben Scrivens between the pipes tonight…

5:40 PM — I’m sure I’ll hear it for this one…but I’ve been listening to Christmas music for the past hour that’s been cranking out on the arena’s sound system.  Hope you guys like it, too…because that seems to be theme for the evening.  If I had to guess, said the sarcastic man, I’d bet you see it up until around…say, the December 26th game.

4:30 PM — Connelly will wear #31…Potacco’s in #11, Kucharski in his familiar #22, and Watson in #29.  Anthony Felice is apparently here as well and will wear #40, as usual.

3:45 PM — As the sounds of a — I’m not even sure what’s out here right now…is this a high school game?  Rec league game? — fill the arena about three hours prior to gametime, there is some news to catch up on.

G Mike Brown has signed a PTO with the AHL’s Albany Devils.  Brown was up and down during his stay with Trenton, posting a 2-2 mark with a 3.28 GAA and .911 save percentage in four games.  Shane Connelly will take the wheel between the pipes for Trenton, and his whirlwind season continues with a start tonight at Sun National Bank Center.

Meanwhile, Trenton has bolstered their crumbling forward corps by bringing back F Kyle Kucharski (left) and bringing in F Mike Potacco.

Kucharski spent his entire rookie season with the T-Devils last season, and played in 49 games, serving as a healthy scratch in some games in the second half.  He scored eight goals and added 13 assists last year, and has not played since.

Similarly, Kinnelon, NJ native Mike Potacco has not played since finishing his collegiate career in 2008-09 with UMass-Lowell.  But when you look out on the ice tonight, you’ll see the 26-year-old making his pro debut.  Over the course of 132 games with the River Hawks, the 5-foot-10, 185 pound forward scored 27 goals and 28 assists.  He majored in Criminal Justice in college.

I’ll have some form of in-game coverage tonight…leaning towards just posting some impressions after each period (as well as photos and video, of course) instead of live-blogging…because most of the people that that would read it during home games will, in theory, be here.
