Sunday News And Notes

My apologies for not getting this posted sooner, but hopefully you’ll understand, as I was fortunate enough to be able to cover Game 3 of the ALDS at Yankee Stadium.  To be able to walk out of a big league clubhouse smelling like champagne — since, you know, Joba Chamberlain and others doused me — was a neat feeling.  You can read my coverage here.

Two former Trenton Devils players were making news this weekend for different reasons.

Brad Snetsinger (left) was added to the training camp roster of the Utah Grizzlies.  After a standout 2008-09 season in the ECHL in which he posted 49 points in 49 games (21-28-49), Snets struggled last season in AHL Lowell, tallying only five goals in 57 contests.

Brett Wilson, meanwhile, has been released by the Wheeling Nailers.  It’s a somewhat surprising move, as the former Princeton Tigers standout has shown he’s capable of playing at the ECHL level.  Last season, prior to his release by Trenton, he scored 13 goals and 24 assists in 57 games.  The Johnstown Chiefs claimed him on waivers following his release, but he did not report.

I also left a voicemail for Eric Castonguay, who as you know has signed with Reading.  Hoping to hear back from him soon.

And defenseman Russ Sinkewich, who spent parts of the last two seasons with Johnstown, has been traded to Alaska by the Nailers, who signed him this off-season.

Be interesting to see if Castonguay has anything to say.
