Former T-Devil Zimmerman Dealt By Canucks

Sean Zimmerman, a former Devils farmhand who played eight games for Trenton during the 2007-08 season, has been dealt to the Florida Panthers by the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for Nathan Paetsch.

Zimmerman was New Jersey’s sixth round selection, 170th overall, in the 2005 draft.  Now 23 years old, the blueliner played in 75 games in the Devils organization (one in 2006-07 and 74 the following year) without scoring a goal, instead tallying seven assists, including one with the T-Devils.

After a season with the CHL’s Arizona Sundogs, Zimmerman has played his last two years with the AHL’s San Antonio Rampage, posting a 4-7-11 line in 108 games with them.

Zimmerman is likely to be assigned to Florida’s AHL affiliate in Rochester at some point.  Kevin Oklobizija of The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle has more at his blog.
