Big Day…

Your beat writer is even sporting an absolutely, positively hideous playoff ‘stache.  That’s how big today is.

It’s simple.  Trenton needs to win.  Nothing else matters if Trenton doesn’t win.  I’m on Trentonian duty for one last time tonight, but I’ll have any pre-game info posted here if anything is of interest.

UPDATE: Dave Caruso’s in net for Trenton, Chris Holt for Elmira.  Seems like the same lineup for Trenton…

So corms was watching the jackals very closely in pre-skate. Who is his chosen victim tonight – surely it’s got to be johnsons turn for a beating.

    Pender in for murray?

  2. tdevils Says:

Hopefully no one…don’t need to be thinking about physical stuff tonight. Tonight’s focus needs to be 2 points. Period.

  3. Titans04 Says:

Two votes for Johnson once the game is decided.

Strengee that Reading would sign a college goalie and a ebug today. Enledge got called up but that still left Dalton.

  4. LanghorneDevil Says:

True but this is cormier we are talking about. We need to not get dragged into silly scuffles as we know we will get the bad end of all penalties.

Even if you put the fluke goal aside, that was a great first period.

That dude just tried the jumbotron proposal and the microphone cut out on him. Gotta love the arena’s maintenance. At least she said yes, though.

  8. tdevils Says:

Pretty sure that was a sign from God that arena proposals aren’t a great idea.

  9. Titans04 Says:

Never a good to make that move, just sayin.

  10. I want real hockey in Trenton Says:

    6-3 Wheeling after 2.

  11. Joe Ferraro Says:

Reading and Wheeling Tied 6- 6 after 3 , Royals get a point. Damn no playoffs for Devils. They gave it a great effort.

Fork please. And & long months of what if.

The players deserved better it’s a damn shame.

  14. titans04 Says:

    7 months.

  15. chiarams Says:

Sorry – I gave up on the team in November. Frankly, I’m glad they didn’t sneak in. Playing good hockey for two months shouldn’t get you a playoff berth.

  16. Trentondevilsfan Says:

Brutal. But this is what happens when you need to rely on another team. Damn. I really hate the end of the season.

  17. titans04 Says:

yep, very different team the last 2 months, maybe one of these years they’ll figure out how not to give away the first half of the season. Now we get the added frustration of total silence from the org until they drop the puck in October. The CIA shares more information than the lowell bunch.

The Chris Lamoriello magic touch is one for three in Trenton and Lowell’s continuing to slide out of a playoff spot. Thanks again.

  18. Shtikl Says:

I’m still glad they beat Elmira for youse. They played like they wanted those bonus checks, unlike the AHL and NHL Devils. Maybe coach can inspire them to beat Reading tonight and give everyone a big “what-if” to chew on at the driving range.

Actually I expect a handful of them to be hanging out in Lowell as “the practice squad” — and if there were a real, live reporter within 30 miles of Lowell, we’d actually get a story about that. But the zombies up here will be focusing on the sure-to-fail Boston team. So we’ll never know who’s still skating. 😦

Once the AHL Devils move to Albany, there are 3 newspapers there to cover the team, 2 of which will poke and prod and maybe get some news out to the fans. Look online for the Albany Times Union and Schenectady Gazette, both have beat writers who blog, so if there’s gossip they’ll have it.

  19. Off-Ice21 Says:

Killer should give Lerg the nod tonight. Cormier should just go out and cause a riot. If you’re not playing for tommorw, might as well leave a mark.

  20. titans04 Says:

Lerg played the roll of Christmas tree perfectly. He was terrible.

  21. titans04 Says:

    make that role.
