Pre-Game Quickie

Toledo’s sending Alec Richards out there between the pipes, while Trenton’s got Gerald Coleman in net.  I’ve been running around all day…not sure if anything else is going on, but if there’s any updates, I’ll be sure to post them.  Plenty post-game stuff coming.

    1) NHL GMs finally proposed a rule to stop headhunting

    2) but didn’t suspend Cooke for the hit on Savard, which would be illegal under the new rule

    3) NHL GMs want the AHL to use the 2-ref system — guess where they’re going to get the refs to stock the pond?

So you’re going to have company in the press box? 🙂

    Go, T-Devils!

Wow, if you like goals this was your period, 3-3 after one

5-3 toledo now.wonder if cormier is getting a complex – suited again but not been near the ice.

I think I need another beer to get through this one

    Stupid bberry

6-4 now, gerald pulled. Did not look confident all night.

  7. Shtikl Says:

You wanted excitement, you got it. Corms got a couple shifts tonight, how’s he look out there? Did Coleman look bad enough to be pulled?

  8. Titans04 Says:

I thought there was a rule clearly stating no beards on the ice, disgraceful.

Kevin at least got a couple shifts. Toledo looks like a fun team to watch, lots of big bodies banging guys around and going to the net hard on every rush. Coleman wasn’t good but the best 1 through 8 dmen in the league got skated past one a lot of the first 6 goals.

  9. Titans04 Says:

Kevin looks no worse than a bunch of the rest as more than a couple seem to be off their game.

Ironic seeing Romano playing in his first game since being traded from Utah. He looks to be especially fired up taking a crosschecking penalty on his first shift. On another shift he was flying down the wing, somebody laid a perfect pass out for him to take a one timer he took a pretty big swing but stepped on a landmind right before he made contact and he went flying.

  10. LanghorneDevil Says:

I didn’t even see cormier on the ice. Hope we see a turnaround in the 3rd. Come on Devils.

  11. Shtikl Says:

Ah, Romano. Yeah, a rough-tough guy, probably glad to run at the Devils uniform.

How’s Aliu look? Like him a lot, lot, lot better than that idiot Downie, ugly history between them.

  12. Shtikl Says:

Good start, chasing Richards. Hope they put in swiss cheese.

    Oh, is Charleston OK?

  13. LanghorneDevil Says:

Devils finally look interested and a quick double from poli and wilson makes it 6-6

  14. chiarams Says:

Just what does one have to do to get a major for kicking?

  15. Shtikl Says:

Well, it’s a shame they only post 3 stars, isn’t it? When’s the last time the Titans or Devils scored 9 goals in one game?

  16. chiarams Says:

    Last year – Bertoli night.

  17. Shtikl Says:

And here I thought the penalties were going to dominate the game, was the ref whistle-happy or were they that sloppy to start?

I guess the only way you can get a kicking penalty is to kick or slew-foot the opponent, or at least try to kick or slew-foot. That’s such a dangerous thing to kick somebody when you’re wearing skates, I wonder if Zarb will get supplemental discipline. Should be an automatic review. Pretty rare penalty, from what Google will call up on leaguestat.

  18. titans04 Says:

First you board the s*it out of Charleston then you try and kick him when he’s down then when you’re being escorted to the box you swat the linesman’s hand off your back a couple time while tell him all about his mother. Zarb is a p*ssy that rarely answers the bell.

Romano was taking shots at Zancanaro throughout the game, classy stuff like crosschecking him in the back after faceoffs when Tony would win the draw and then turn his back to head towards the puck. Late in the 3rd he did something cheap knocking Tony’s glove off and Tony immediately got in his face challenging him and as he did all game long Romano skated away.

The third was fun without question we went to the net hard and Richards was unable to control the puck. he struggled all game long. Kudos to Caruso who came in and played very well making some great tough glove saves.

Keefe was very quietand didn’t act like a guy with his track record. He’s a lot smaller than I thought he would be.

  19. Shtikl Says:

Give ’em no quarter Friday. Finish ’em off.

Romano was billed as a fast, high-energy pest. First game in the new digs, he puts up 3 points and it isn’t nearly enough, I’ll bet he was frustrated. Guess he didn’t like losing all those face-offs to Zanco 🙂

  20. titansman Says:

Coleman was brutal last night. So how long til he is on IR and Lerg backing up Caruso?

  21. titans04 Says:

Zarb got two games for his a**holery last night. Nice work tool.

  22. Shtikl Says:

Hey, if you’re really thrilled by this game and want to remember it forever and ever, you can blow $19.95 and buy a single-game archive download from — seems a bit high for a single game but where else would you get it?

  23. Trentondevilsfan Says:

    Yikes, that’s steep.

I thought Coleman got little help, but he didn’t help himself either. Caruso came up big several times; he’s really picked his game up as the season’s gone on. No question he stays in if the call comes down that they want to see Lerg in action.

Their goalie was swiss cheese too, but there were some nice offensive plays by both sides. That Danis-Pepin is freakin’ huge, jeez.

Typical Zarb antics, glad he got what he deserved.

I know Cormier played but I didn’t really notice him.

That was a fun one, hopefully Friday is as well but at this point I’ll take an ugly game as long as it’s 2 pts. The D is still putrid but nice to see the offense continue to click.

Coleman just isn’t the same guy we saw last year.
