The Post About Nothing (UPDATED With Goalies, Cormier Sighting)

Anything going on with the Trenton Devils?  I’m sure there is.  But I’m up here by myself, and hey…you guys find out about some of the moves before I do, thanks to the ECHL transactions e-mails, so I’m clearly making great use of my time.

As for Reading, left winger Robert Slaney’s been assigned to the Royals from AHL Toronto, a move that comes a day after goalie Andrew Engelage was also shipped to the ECHL from up north.  The Royals have also added defenseman Tim Branham after losing fellow blueliner Scott Fletcher to AHL Providence.

If any other huge news like that develops over the course of the next two hours, I’ll be sure to post it here…

If not, check me out in The Trentonian tomorrow and on here after the game…

UPDATE: Matt Dalton in net for Reading, Dave Caruso for Trenton…

UPDATE: Just bumped into Kevin Cormier on the concourse.  I’ll see what I can find out after the game.  We chatted briefly, but off the record…

How cool is it that the only buzz around the arena is coming from the sign outside that hasn’t worked since they dropped the puck back in October. Any chance you can cut the PA mic cord Mike?

  2. Shtikl Says:

Um… should be some motion amongst the blueliners, since the Debbies called up both Murphy and Corrente and only sent down Davison. Unless Flynn made the trip, that would leave the Lowlies with Magnan, Eckford, Taormina, Cohen, and Davison whenever he arrives. ECHL hasn’t posted its daily transactions yet, watch to see if Murray and Thomas are out for warm-ups.

  3. Lousballsack Says:

None showing anything on the ECHL transactions page but that doesn’t mean squat. The track record under this administration is to officially post them one day after it happens. Can’t let that cat outta the bag, might influence the opposing teams game plan when dealing with this juggernaut.

  4. Titans04 Says:

Oh look PLL once again put on IR so they can jerk the roster around. Mystery injury 4 or 5 for Pierre poor guy. Wonder if he at least gets a rusty trombone from Lou each time.

  5. Trentondevilsfan Says:

We have a Coleman sighting on the ice. Same foulmouthed Reading fans in our row, yippie.

  6. tdevils Says:

Can’t beat the guy cursing in front of his kids during warm-ups. Always charming.

  7. Titans04 Says:

Yep Reading keeping it classy in another teams empty barn.

  8. Titans04 Says:

Coleman still banged up but must have been upgraded to “Johnstown” banged up elevated from last weekends Reading and Elmira banged up.

  9. Shtikl Says:

Sounds like fun. Teach your kids about Tourette’s Syndrome, verbal tics and impulse control problems. Maybe that will help make sense of the swearing.

Lowlies have 4 natural defencemen tonight, Robitaille and Stoesz are expected to fill in a bit. Wow.

  10. Trentondevilsfan Says:

Not a bad period at all. Must say I quite enjoy the PA doofus butchering Royal names. Sleeney? Love it. If only he were trying to do that.

  11. Titans04 Says:

And the point of having Flynn on the roster is………..

  12. tdevils Says:

Cormier’s agreed to chat with me after the game. Hope that actually happens…

  13. Trentondevilsfan Says:

Lee was messing with Hand there for a bit. Mmmm, might want to rethink that.

  14. Shtikl Says:

Good to hear it’s going well! The Lowlies look really pathetic against the NorAds, puck’s been in Lowell’s defensive end about 75% of the time and although Frazee’s made some nice saves, he can’t stop everything. Taormina’s out with an upper body injury, so the Lowlies only have 4 natural defensemen. Stoesz and Robitaille and Snetsinger are rotating in and out of the blueline crew. Flynn’s a “healthy scratch”, bet he didn’t make the trip because of his day job. Walter shouldn’t bother taking face-offs, put him on the perimeter and just let the other team have the puck for crying out loud. Yech! Magnan could do better!

  15. Shtikl Says:

Ouch. 2 goals on 2 shots. Sorry, guys!

  16. Titans04 Says:

Nice job coming back after giving up that brutal goal. Hopefully they come out strong in the 3rd.

  17. Shtikl Says:

Wow, just took a screenshot of the scoresheet. I know this is a typo. No way the T-Devils took 112 shots in the 2nd period, but they must have looked good 🙂
    SHOTS 1 2 Total
    Reading Royals 7 12 19
    Trenton Devils 12 112 124

I see Pender got the go-ahead goal. If that stands up, somebody owes him a backrub 😉 😉

  18. Shtikl Says:

Well, no danger of that, 1 goal on 1 shot… Announced attendance is 2284, how many green seats does that leave?

At least the T-Devs can score. The Lowlies are now down 0-3, but they did kill off a 3-on-5. Robitaille got bloodied without even bringing out his fight card, some guy named Mitch Fritz who proceeded to yell at the ref for the call and only got 2 for roughing. Entertaining game, anyway, sort of…

  19. Trentondevilsfan Says:

Nice game down here, that was fun. Nothing like shutting up the big mouths down the row. Even Tomko and Pender got rubber on the net, nice goal by Eves as well. Good stuff.

  20. titans04 Says:

yep definately would have found a way to lose this one most of the year, especially after giving up the tying goal early in the 4rd. We really took it to the Royals from the 12 minute mark on in the 3rd. Dalton made some huge saves but Eves finally broke through. Pender played what I thought was clearly his best game of the year. Reading brought nothing the last 12 minutes on their heels the whole time. Pender was willing to go with Hand but was the one that didn’t take him up on it. He certainly doesn’t come across as a wildman. Readings D as a whole is junk.

    Still a fun night.

  21. Shtikl Says:

    Nice to win! Congratulations, T-Devils!

Robitaille earned himself a double minor and a misconduct for attempted spearing of Pr — oops, Fritz. He might be out for a game. The scratches were Flynn (healthy but not available), Halischuk (injured) and Taormina (upper body). I wonder if ChrisLam would consider calling up a couple players from other teams to restock the Lowlies, since there are none to spare in the Devils minor league system… Nah…

  22. tdevils Says:

I guess they’re alternating who’s ridiculously and unnecessarily short at the minor league level. Luke Lucyk surely enjoyed the game in the suit he was wearing here in Trenton.

  23. Shtikl Says:

Jeez, we’ve all grown so cynical! The boys have a little fun, they outscore their opponent, so smile and cheer and applaud already! Shock everybody and write an upbeat game story!

  24. tdevils Says:

My lead actually suggests you may see more defense at the NBA All-Star Game. Other than that, it’s relatively tame.

  25. Justin Says:

wow why do u have to say our D is junk that was a mean thing. u dont see me bashing the devils ai yai yai shame

  26. Trentondevilsfan Says:

Your D was junk, it was awful. And we know how to recognize awful D as we’ve seen it all year.

I don’t think I yelled at Tomko once all game, which was a first. Ordinarily (as in, if you hadn’t seen this team all year) you wouldn’t think the goal that tied it at 3 would be a killer, but I really thought the Reading folks down the row were going to party the rest of the period. Very happy to see them not let that happen. I was entertained (for the right reasons) and thus a successful night in my book.

Is our regular ingame MC guy gone?

  27. tdevils Says:

Yes. Pretty sure he injured himself somehow.

And Justin, both teams played next to no defense. It isn’t being critical of your team or the T-Devils, it’s just a matter of fact in regards to how that game went.

  28. Trentondevilsfan Says:

Upper or lower body injury? 🙂
