Ice Situation: Live Updates

The ice crew is in full scramble mode.  About 10 minutes ago — it’s 6:15 — they just put up the protective netting behind the glass.  They’re just now putting up the protective cover over the runway that the T-Devils come out of.

The zamboni is resurfacing the ice now.  The ice is still very dirty, and…see that line that goes from the zamboni gate to the faceoff circle in my photos?  That actually appears to be a deep cut in the ice.  Warmups are supposed to start in 10 minutes.  No way.

6:25 PM — Wow.  The T-Devils are warming up.  The net isn’t even ready…they’re still drilling holes on the other side of the ice for Johnstown’s net.  The players don’t seem to know what to do.

I’m told the gates still are not open.

6:45 PM — The gates were eventually opened, of course…Johnstown didn’t come out for warmups until about five minutes after Trenton did.  The clock was stopped until they came out.  Ice still looks awful.

Funny how the T-Devils are tenants in the building, have no control over any of this and you try to point the finger at them.

Maybe I’m mis-reading this, titansman, but I think we’re all saying that the SNBC screwed up royally this time. M-I-C K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E indeed, not the T-Devils but the SNBC! I can’t believe they left mud and filth in the seats — for 3 days?!

Horrendous job by someone, that’s for sure. Inexcusable. I wanted to ask Jim Leahy for some details, but understandably, he was running around all over the place quite a bit.

Bullshit on not pointing some blame to the T-Devs – they’re the primary tenant. You can’t tell me that some time between the end of the truck show and Wednesday at 5pm, somebody couldn’t have thought “holy shit, maybe we need to have the ice up to par.”

It’s not 100% either parties fault, but the T-Devs are hardly blameless.

No question someone should have been there on Monday to check it out and make some noise. Sadly you can’t assume anyone’s doing their job anymore. It doesn’t reflect on the arena, it reflects on the team and therefore becomes 100% their problem and responsibility to ensure that the arena people do their job.
