Elmira Acquires Ex-NHL Goalie

The Binghamton Senators have assigned goaltender Andy Chiodo to the Elmira Jackals.

Chiodo appeared in 16 games with Binghamton this season, posting a 5-10-0 record with a 3.07 GAA and .910 save pct.  Chiodo signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Senators prior to the start of the 2009-10 season.

A veteran of parts of three ECHL seasons — all with Wheeling — the 26-year-old played in eight NHL games with the Pittsburgh Penguins during the 2003-04 season, posting a 3-4-1 record, 3.46 GAA and .892 save percentage.  This season marks his first in North America since the 2005-06 campaign.

Elmira has employed at least three ex-NHL netminders over the past two seasons now; Chris Holt, Rob McVicar (who played his only game with the team in Trenton) and Chiodo.

Former Elmira forward Maxime Grachev also signed an AHL deal with Binghamton today.
