Nagy Recalled To Lowell

Trenton Devils forward Kory Nagy has been recalled by AHL Lowell.

The 20-year-old Devils draft pick cooled off a bit after his two-goal T-Devils debut, scoring just twice in his last 32 games.  All in all, he posted a 4-9-13 line in 33 games with Trenton.

Anyone expecting Jeremy Akeson to step in and take Nagy’s spot is misguided.  I bumped into Akeson, one of the nicest pro athletes you’d ever want to cover, on the concourse during one of the intermissions of last night’s game in Newark, and he still seems a few games away from being able to return.  It’s hard not to think that this core group of guys, plus the additions of Akeson, Eves and Kell couldn’t go on a run like they did last year.

Eves is still dealing with an upper body injury, and Kell…I was led to believe he was only day-to-day, but that clearly hasn’t been the case.

Not that it’s any comfort, but the only healthy scratch for Lowell was defenseman Greg Flynn. Everybody else is injured.

At least Nagy was on the PK and on one of the top lines, he’s not just manning the nachos. Saturday night in Bingo, he didn’t start but he was moved up to the #1 line early in the 1st period and stayed there. Looks like a grinder rather than a sniper but he played well his first two games back in the A.
