Harrison Released By Nailers

The Wheeling Nailers have released long-time Trenton Devils enforcer Thomas Harrison.

The 25-year-old spent the last two seasons playing in Trenton before signing with Wheeling for the 2009-10 campaign.

In 96 games with the T-Devils, he scored six goals, added four assists and racked up 399 penalty minutes.  He also earned a call-up to Lowell last season, playing in three games and accumulating 10 penalty minutes.

Harrison’s final season in the capital city came to an abrupt end in February, when he suffered a head injury in a fight.

This year with Wheeling, he appeared in seven games, scoring one goal with three assists.  He also tallied 46 penalty minutes, some of those coming in his return to the vault this October.

While he provided very little offensively, that’s never what he was brought in to do.  Harry’s job was to serve as a ninth or tenth forward and protect his teammates when the time was right to do so.  He wasn’t always pretty to watch out there, but there was no question that he — and players like him — were respected in the room for the role they filled.
