Kell, Prough Returned To Trenton

The captain is back.

One day after writing that the team had three healthy forwards that could easily be sent to Lowell, two of them were assigned there on conditioning stints; former Titan Pierre-Luc Letorneau-Leblond and Ilkka Pikkarainen.

That meant that two players had to come to Trenton from Lowell, and captain Trevor Kell and Jeff Prough are heading back to the capital city as a result.

Kell has spent parts of the last three seasons at the AHL level, appearing in 16 games over the past three seasons.  This year, he scored one goal in five games played.

As for Prough, this marked his first stint in the American Hockey League, and he surely opened some eyes up there with his performance.  In six games, he scored a goal and added two assists while posting a +4 rating and putting the puck on the net nine times.

When he’s on, Prough is one of the best players you’ll see set foot on the Goliath National Bank…uhhh, Sovereign Bank Arena Sun National Bank Center ice, and his wrist shot could take him very far if given the opportunity.

No word on what this move means for Ryan Ginand, who was just signed yesterday after a four-year collegiate career at Northeastern.

Ginand might come in handy yet, if Kowalsky can afford to hang onto him for a few more days. IIRC (Tom Gulitti said so 9/29), LeBlond and Pikkarainen would both have to clear waivers in order to stay in Lowell, and Pikkarainen would probably go back to Finland if he were waived and not claimed. So this is a short-term loan to Lowell. But enjoy it while it lasts. A little long-overdue relief!

Could be but when Neidermayer (sp) and Pandolfo come off IR the big club will still have to shed bodies, I think. I would also think that Halishcuk (sp) Sestito and from the looks of it Pelly maybe in the mix to head back at some point. No sure any of them have made much of impression and it sure appears as if along with PLL and Pikkarainen he too has fallen out of favor. Also hopefully Lou’s “soon” really does mean Davison returns quickly.

Davison played tonight. So maybe Coutu will be back to youse soon. If so, hope he had fun and picked up a few useful pointers.

May very well be gone before stepping foot on home ice with Zharkov and Pikkarainen heading up to NJ thanks to Clarkson’s ankle which apparently was broken in todays game.
