Devils Force Game 6; Puck Drops at 6 PM Sunday @ SBA

(PR) Facing elimination in Elmira, the Trenton Devils pulled out a character victory in overtime against the Jackals in Game 5 of the North Division Semifinals, 3-2, Saturday night.

Trevor Kell scored the game winner with a blistering shot from the top of the near circle on the power play, his third of the playoffs at 7:56.

The Jackals scored the first goal of the game for the fifth time in a row, as Paul McIlveen finished off a two-on-one with Mike Sgroi for his first of the playoffs at 12:08.

In the second period, the Devils got off to a quick start and were rewarded with a quick goal at 1:56. On delayed penalty call for the Jackals, Jeff Prough took a pass from Tony Zancanaro and fired it home from a sharp angle for his first career playoff goal.

Elmira re-gained the lead in the third period with a Chaz Johnson goal, though the Devils answered back 1:07 later as Dan Eves scored his third of the playoffs after banking in a pass from Jim Henkel at the top of the crease.

The Devils faced adversity in overtime when Nathan Perkovich took a double-minor penalty for high-sticking. The Devils effortlessly killed off the four-minute penalty, with Jeff Frazee making several stops to keep the game tied.

The Jackals then took a too many men on the ice penalty of their own, and the Devils quickly went to work on the man advantage with Kell putting in the game-winner.

Frazee earned his first career playoff victory with 20 saves, while Henkel tallied two assists.

The Devils return home for Game 6 of the North Division Semifinals against the Jackals Sunday night, with the puck drop scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Tickets are available by logging onto

GREAT JOB BOYS!!!! Rumor has it that Coleman was sent home early to get ready for game 6. However, Frazee should start. Dan Eves and Henkel are really showing grit.

  2. Al (Philly Devil) Says:

By the way..the SBA BETTER BE SHOWING THE NJD game on the tv in that bar area. HEADS WILL ROLL IF NOT. I have not missed a NJD playoff game (at least on tv) since 1999. SBA better do their damn job.

  3. tdevils Says:

I will be shocked if Frazee isn’t in there…

  4. Al (Philly Devil) Says:

In honor of T-Kell’s goal. See Mr. Watson lately?

  5. titans04 Says:

Watson is hanging around with Harrison who had his season ended by Lepine.

  6. Al (Philly Devil) Says:

Way to show those TITANS colors fraud. Harrison not playing is not a hinderence.

  7. TrentonPwnedFlorida Says:

Al….You really…Should not be allowed to use a computer. Titans04 in no way would want Harrison in the line up…

Harrison sucked…but he was a DEVIL, whose season was ended by an Elmira Player…Like him or not..He was still part of our team
