With the Trenton Devils having a rare weekend off, the organization deemed it was finally time for Ryan Ginand to see his first AHL action. Despite being tied for third in the ECHL with 75 points (29 goals-46 assists) in 68 games, the 24-year-old forward saw countless players called up or signed to PTO’s ahead of him.
Wearing #23, Ginand scored one goal on four shots and was a plus-one in a 7-4 loss to the Hershey Bears. He also had four penalty minutes.
Trenton doesn’t play again until Wednesday night, when they host the Jackals.

Trenton Steel…..THEY LOST…..Steel lose 2nd straight 76-73. Perhaps an Ashmore curse in effect.

Good for him- he’s earned it here- will be interesting to see where he ends up next year- my bet is Europe.
March 27, 2011 at 4:14 pm
I hope he signs somewhere where he’ll actually get a legit shot in the AHL. I gotta think Reading will pursue him pretty hard.
March 27, 2011 at 8:28 pm
Id be surprised if he and Hayes are back. like chiarams says id expect to see them in Reading or even Elmira next year,
Went to see the Union yesterday – strange feeling watching a winning team..

Talk about strange the morgue had life last night that I haven’t seen in many years, not even half full but rocking nontheless.

Great news! Small but well deserved reward for a guy that’s played his tail off this year!

T04 – Proof that Rich Lisk can sell anything in Trenton given the necessary resources to succeed.
March 27, 2011 at 10:54 pm
Size wise the crowd was about on par with the larger T Devs crowds (think Scout Nights). People were into it though, it was fun.
Very happy for Ginand, and way to get on the board right away!
March 28, 2011 at 12:01 pm
Grats to Ginand! Hope he has a good next season!

Good stuff.
What’s their Fenwick rating apparently that’s what matters most…..forget wins, loses, goals and silly stuff like that let’s talk Fenwick.

Thanks for the reminder about Cohen, not bad for a stay-at-home blueliner.
Brad Mills was named the A-Dweebles’ man-of-the-year, does that translate to any extra oats in the feed bag or is it like kissing your sister?

Ryan’s at it again – Albany FB post, a minute ago: “Ryan Ginand makes it 1-0 Devils deflecting in a shot from the point. We are only 29 seconds into the contest”
March 29, 2011 at 7:06 pm
Good for him, would love an explanation as to why it took so long, Dan I’m sure won’t ask Dean.
March 29, 2011 at 7:07 pm
2 points tonight less than 4 mins in.
March 29, 2011 at 7:08 pm
Good for Ryan. Solid work by the brass identifying a hidden gem.
Please let him escape the organization. For the good of him.
March 29, 2011 at 7:35 pm
As expected Dan goes nowhere near that question even after talking specifically about Ryan for 5 mins.
The minor leaguer market killer the GM that’s made the playoffs something like 2 in 14 combined seasons and has yet to win a playoff series will be in Trenton for the last 2 games.
A pefect opportunity Mike for his thoughts on another season of coming up empty at both levels, again. still. While still leading both leagues in having the shittiest attendance, that’s a given just like missing the playoffs.
March 29, 2011 at 8:57 pm
Ginand with another. Clearly he couldn’t have helped Albany all season.
March 29, 2011 at 9:07 pm
Just as hot up there. Had he stayed down here Bert’s record was toast. Clearly one of the guys that made the season worth watching.
March 29, 2011 at 9:14 pm
Goal was changed to Mills, Ginand still has 3 points on the night so far.
March 29, 2011 at 10:46 pm
He’d look good in a Flyers or Rangers uniform, wouldn’t he?
March 30, 2011 at 8:08 am
Let’s not get crazy Shtikl – no doubt he’s earned himself a spot in an NHL camp though next fall, but he’s probably a step slow for the big kids.
March 30, 2011 at 2:38 pm
How affliations are supposed to work, well assuming you’re actually in the playoff hunt after thanksgiving:
03/30/2011 Corey Cowick (F) Elmira ADD Reassigned by Ottawa/NHL from Binghamton/AHL
03/30/2011 Jason Bailey (F) Elmira ADD Reassigned by Ottawa/NHL from Binghamton/AHL
03/30/2011 Mike Hoffman (F) Elmira ADD Reassigned by Ottawa/NHL from Binghamton/AHL

they will be back in bingo tomorrow morning.

Yah, I know it’s not bloody likely that an ECHLer is going to make the NHL if he’s spent more than half a season in the AA-league. But I guess I was thinking that it’s time for the kid to get out of the depressing rut that Devils hockey has become. And seriously, it’s time for the Dweebles to leave town so the Rags and Failures can fight for the privilege of mopping up the dregs of what used to be a decent fan base.
