Nothing official yet, but the Trenton Devils are expected to announce tomorrow that goalie Shane Connelly has been dealt to the Utah Grizzlies. No word yet on any sort of returning player, but I wouldn’t expect anyone until told otherwise.
Still just 23 years old, this will mark the fourth ECHL team that Connelly will have suited up for this season. After playing for Elmira and South Carolina earlier in the year, the former Wisconsin standout went 6-10-3 for Trenton over the course of 22 games, posting a 3.45 GAA and .883 save percentage along the way.
While, like the team, maddeningly inconsistent at times, Connelly did show occasional flashes of brilliance. He earned Trenton’s only shutout of the season on February 9 against Kalamazoo, stopping all 27 shots he faced in a 2-0 win.
This move likely paves the way for the return of a goalie from AHL Albany, with Jeff Frazee and Dave Caruso the most likely candidates. Be surprised if Caruso isn’t the one sent down, as he’s recently been the odd man out.

Sims EBUG’d for Elmira last season at one point when they came to Trenton. I remember his chipped up white mask. Not sure how much he actually played since.

Overhauling your team during a bad run? Who knew you were allowed to do that?
Future considerations, let me guess a round of drinks for Chris and Lou at the next owners meetings?

They got fair market value….trade is getting rave reviews on FB too. Can’t wait to see Lergie back in Trenton again next year.
Chase Watson anyone? He’s available now too. That would send a message.
