Trenton Makes, The Trentonian Takes? No, That’s Lame…

…well, I’ll have to do better than that tonight, as I’ll be writing the game story for the Trentonian.  Seeing how they’re paying me for a game story — which will be the first time in two seasons I’ve been paid to cover this team, for the record — I won’t be doing any live blogging tonight.

I’d encourage you to listen to Dan D’Uva’s broadcast online, or actually…oh, I don’t know, come out to the game.

As for the blog, well…all is not lost.  Anything I didn’t end up using for the Trentonian — quotes, photos, audio, videos, etc. — will be up and posted after the game.

If anyone has any questions during the game or anything, I’ll be happy to answer them.  Just send me an e-mail.

In the meantime, I promise that I will never make another crack about attendance if the T-Devils wear these just once.  Once.  All I’m asking.

Well done Mike. I’m not sure which sports analyst has the worst fashion sense – Don Cherry or Craig Sager.

are right up there as well.

Craig Sager sat in the same row as myself when we were both covering the ALDS this year. He sat a few seats away from me in the dining room at Yankee Stadium, and was wearing a salmon or peach colored suit…as a result, now everything I see has a certain pink-orange tinge to it.

CONGRATULATIONS! PAID for the story! You ROCK, Mike!

Congrats on the paying gig! They checked bags for the first time in my experience tonite. Would’ve made sense to start the policy last friday at the sold out Jeff Dunham gig but whatever. Maybe tonite’s the night we see something out of Harder…

Neil Smith is here walking around with Gordon Kaye christ he looks like he’s 80 years old. Guess that’s what happens when you bleed money.

  7. Shtikl Says:

Congratulations, T-Devils, for hanging on to win against the hapless Chiefs…

1 assist for Harder, I guess that’s not what you guys wanted from him.

    Who won Blondie’s sweater?

So Mike, what happened to Rob Chakler?

  8. Trentondevilsfan Says:

They actually played decent tonite I thought. At least showed a little progress. Still going to be tough in Elmira. Guy that won the Leblond jersey was two rows up and across the aisle from us. He’s always there, so good for him. I was 70 numbers off…

Rob was just off for the night. He does a great job covering the team, and I would never dream of taking his position full-time. Rob has become a friend over the past season of covering the team, and I encourage y’all to read his stuff when he cranks out his next article.

I wish Neil Smith would have popped in the press box, I’d have loved to talk to him.

I thought about putting in $2 for the Leblond sweater myself, but I’m not sure if I’m allowed.

And thanks to everyone for the kind words. Pissed off at myself for a glaring f**k-up in I think the third paragraph, but other than that…it was so-so. Thought I could have done a little better. Liked my lead, wasn’t a big fan of the rest of it.

Mike you do great work and I’m confident your day will come and you’ll end up with covering some big league team.

I thought we played a pretty solid game. The 5 shot 3rd period wasn’t all that great but they held on for the win. Nice to see Tony and Leaderer get on the board, Mayotte has gone from being an all-star to a Jason Smith clone. Coleman brings a whole new dimension to a team that has some room to improve on the back line. I still thought Harder struggled for the most part, the first penalty was a bad one way behind the play. He did get a point but why he’s taking faceoffs when Zancanaro is on the ice I don’t get it. I say it again I’ll be surprised if he’s here after guys start returning from injuries. Pender at least got a couple shots on goal but still not sure he’s good enough to have a spot either. Nice to see Torti come back with a little bit of an attitude.

PP moved the puck but still 0-7, pk a very good 7-7. Last 2 JT games close to 7 minute of not being able to put one in an empty net. Would have been nice to not give up the late goal that made it 3-2. A win however is much appreciated. Good luck tomorrow they’re really going to need it.

Just posted my post-game notes and stuff. I think Harder’s been taking some sketchy penalties, but he hasn’t been terrible. Henkel > Harder, obviously. But still, he hasn’t been terrible.

    Pender didn’t impress me tonight.

Mayotte…he’s got nothing in front of him, but still…he hasn’t been good. Don’t understand why they don’t just start Connelly. He’s been really good in relief both times out.

  12. Shtikl Says:

Love the Frontenacs sweaters, thanks for the link.

Good for the Chiefs to have an NHL affiliation again, don’t see how a team can survive for long without one. But it’s also good to have a team the T-Devils can beat so this raises the bar, eh? :P
